Redact PDF

Mark names, account numbers or other sensitive areas, then download a fresh PDF. Unlike visual whiteout, this export does not include the original PDF page objects or text.

Check the result carefully. The saved pages are flattened images, so their original text will no longer be selectable or searchable. Redaction removes only the areas you mark.

How to redact safely

  1. Choose a PDF and drag across each area that should disappear.
  2. Use Next to inspect every page, then download the new file.
  3. Open the download and inspect every page at full size before sharing it.

The whole PDF is rebuilt from visible pixels. Embedded text, annotations, attachments and form fields are not copied into the downloaded file. The output may be larger than the original.

Example: share a statement without the account number

On a copy of the statement, cover every occurrence of the account number, including the header, transaction references and later pages. Cover each area generously enough that no digit remains visible at the edges. Download the new PDF, reopen it and check every page at full size. If you missed a number, return to the original and make a new redacted copy.

Try selecting or searching for the removed number in the downloaded file: its original text should not be present because the export contains new page images. This check does not replace a visual inspection. The new file also loses selectable text in areas you did not redact, so keep the original if you need an accessible or searchable copy.
