PDF to Word
Extract the text from a PDF into an editable Word document. Review and correct the text here before downloading the DOCX file.
Text-first conversion. This preserves words and basic paragraphs, not the exact PDF layout, images or tables. For scanned pages, run Make PDF Searchable first.
Up to 25 MB and 25 pages. Files stay on this device.
When to use this tool
Choose this route when you need to rewrite or reflow substantial text in Word. PDF files store positioned page elements rather than Word paragraphs, so an exact one-click reconstruction is not reliable. The downloaded DOCX is a starting draft, not a visual copy of the PDF.
Example: update a resume when only a PDF remains
Extract the resume text, then check names, dates, bullet order and the breaks between sections in the editable preview. Correct them before downloading. Open the DOCX in Word or another document editor, rebuild headings and spacing, then make a fresh PDF. Compare both documents before sending the new resume. Photos, columns, tables and font styling from the original PDF are not carried over.
If extraction finds no text, the PDF is probably a scan; run Make PDF Searchable first and review every recognized name and number. For a small change that must keep the PDF layout, try the PDF Editor. Compare PDF editing approaches.
